With GMS for Windows you have options to define almost every aspect of your system's operation. You can define an unlimited number of device types, locations, assignments, conditions, status, calibration methods, PM methods, results, etc. In other words, if you don't find a predefined category that fits your needs, you have the ability to create it. GMS for Windows also includes a group of 5 basic calibration methods that you may use, edit, or replace using GMS for Windows's editor. While GMS for Windows contains over 100 reporting options, you have the unparalleled capability to create your own reports that you can store, edit, and reuse in the Report Manager.
The Device Inventory System is the primary module of GMS for Windows. It is used for routine gage additions, edits, deletions, and updates of info about each of your devices. It stores data concerning your gages, tracks all recall data, and is one of the most frequently used modules. This module acts as the central core of information for your device by allowing you to define many aspects of the how your device will be handled by other modules of GMS for Windows. The Activity buttons at the bottom of the Inventory screen allow you to calibrate, repair, or issue the device shown. It becomes the control center for most of your routine activities.
GMS for Windows supports calibration activities in accordance with ANSI Z540.1 (MIL-STD-45662A, ISO 9000, ISO 10012, ISO Guide 25, and others). The Calibration System provides this capability for each device you register in your Device Inventory. The Calibration System stores calibration records and history about each calibration of a device. It keeps dates, as received and after adjustment test data, reaction data, master and NIST data, calibration source, conditions, and associated costs for each repair and calibration. Use GMS for Windows' graphing features to study trends in your test data and take preventive action before problems occur.
The Advanced Calibration Interface for GMS is a GMS Add-On that provides special assistance with complex or tedious calibration tasks such as thread gage, cylindrical gage, gage blocks, gages sets, and others. This special interface takes care of all of the math, ANSI tolerance look ups, and routine data entry. It makes doing these gages simple and easy. For more info: Advanced Calibration Interface
Today's Calibration is a specialized report that is used to find all gages requiring calibration. You may list gages due, print recall letters by the location and/or person to whom the gage is assigned. Specific Calibration Work Sheets may be printed. Additionally similar utilities are provided to work with Gage Studies and PMs and to print today's calibration certificates, calibration labels, and a multitude of similar reports.
Several specialized subsystems augment the GMS for Windows's abilities. They are integrally involved in the Device Inventory System and Calibration System activities and provide you with a wealth of information and flexibility. Most users use them regularly. The Customers System allows you to create a cross reference between your gages and customer part numbers, drawing numbers, and other related data. Store all of you customer contact information there also. This information can be included on certificates and reports. The Calibration Methods System stores your calibration methods. These include a group of basic methods provided with GMS for Windows as well as those you write yourself. An additional package of 30 methods can be purchased to compliment these. This package is Calibration Methods for GMS. For more info: Calibration Methods for GMS
The Suppliers System tracks supplier contact data including address, contact person, audit data, next audit date, and audit results. Track purchase, calibration, and repair suppliers, as well as others, if you wish. The Device Types System defines groups of common characteristics to be utilized for a group of devices. Each defines calibration source, method, and (calibration, usage, and study) intervals. Groups of devices may be batch processed by their Device Type. This can include edits, updates, and reports. As a result, a Device Type is a very powerful feature of GMS for Windows.
